SMS Opt-In

Last updated: June 19, 2026

Chef is a private, invitation-only meal-planning assistant operated by Daniel Fenton in Washington, DC. Text messaging is optional. Invited subscribers can create and use a Chef account without consenting to SMS.

Opt-in call to action

When an invited subscriber chooses optional text messaging, the SMS enrollment form shows this consent language next to an unchecked SMS consent checkbox:

By checking this optional box and providing your mobile phone number, you agree to receive recurring automated and conversational text messages from Chef about meal plans, recipes, grocery reminders, and household dinner check-ins. Message frequency varies, up to 10 messages per week plus replies to your messages. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe and HELP for help. Consent is not required to create an account, use Chef, or complete any transaction. View our Privacy Policy and SMS Terms & Conditions.

What subscribers receive

Public opt-in evidence

The invitation-only Chef account flow is not open to the general public. A public, non-submitting example of the optional SMS enrollment form, including the phone-number field, unchecked checkbox, and continue-without-texts path, is available at SMS Opt-In Evidence.

Opt-in methods

Chef uses the optional web SMS enrollment form as its only SMS opt-in method. Chef does not use SMS keyword opt-in, paper forms, QR codes, verbal opt-in, point-of-sale opt-in, or purchased lead lists.
